‘Out of the Dark’ was made for the Manga Jiman 2021 Competition, where it came first place and was praised for its handling of the theme of “Lights”.
With previous comics I had avoided using big blocks of black ink, but because light and shadow played a big part in this story I ended up using much more striking shading. Combined with the screentones, textures and crosshatching, this comic is a milestone for me in terms of producing a professional black and white comic.
