This is where the first chapter of Visions of the Phantomfield ends! I may post the rest of the comic here at a later time but if you want to read the rest now you can either continue reading online at GlobalComix or buy a physical copy on my Etsy store. Physical is the best way to read it in my opinion as you get the full experience of how it was intended to be read, plus it supports my work and the creation of future comics.

After many, many months toiling away, Visions of the Phantomfield 1: Counting Shabbits is now ready to read on my new Art Street account here. The reason it is on there is that I have entered it into the Kyoto International Manga Competition as my first ever international entry. This has been a huge milestone for me, and I want to thank all my friends who have helped me with proofreading and feedback. In time it will be posted on this website, but for now I want people to visit it on Art Street and help give it plenty of attention. I do plan to upload more art there relating to the series, and maybe some more comics too!

Just a quick notice to let you guys know that I will be selling my comics and illustrations at the Illustrator’s fair on Saturday 8th July. It’s at Granary Square near King’s Cross Station, and I will be there among many talented artists from 11am to 5pm. I don’t know exactly which table I will be at until the day so I will be posting details on my social media platforms. If you’re in the area please check me out!

02/05/2023 – Big update – I’m on a Podcast!

Hello everyone. I was really hoping to post this up sooner, but over the past month I’ve battled a cold, then full on sinusitus. It ended up slowing down a lot of my work but I’m much better now and I even managed to still get a small vacation to see my best frend out in Germany. Starting with the good news, last month I got to join Nigel and Tazzii of Mayamada on their podcast! I’ve never done one like this before and I was really happy to chat to them about my manga journey and what it’s like being a manga artist. You can listen to the podcast. Now with upcoming conventions and events, it appears my next event will be the Illustrators Fair in London in July. I’m very happy to be returning there, selling plenty of my large prints, my classic comics, and maybe some new Shabbit stuff too. I’ll be posting more details about it as I get closer to the event. I know a few people have asked me if I’m coming to MCM London this month. Unfortunately at this time I am still on the waiting list and I’m beginning to doubt if I will be offered a table in the Artist Alley. The same goes for Thought Bubble too, which is really disappointing as I was hoping to have made enough progress with my art and social media. I am going to be looking at developing the online side of my art, build up more of a presence with my comic series. This site could probably do with some more content too, so I’m going to be brainstorming some new ideas and see what we can do to make the most of this site. Also the Shabbit Comic, now known as Visions of the Phantomfield Book 1: Counting Shabbits is progressing nicely. We’re on track to have the first part fully inked and shaded this week, including this cover page. It may be possible that I will be releasing a two part edition for my next fair, depending on how far we get with part 2.

News and Upcoming Events (It’s almost my Birthday)

Greetings. It’s been very quiet here this month, but I have been busy working on some new projects. The big thing which people may have seen on instagram and twitter is my Shabbit comic, which is almost completely sketched. There’s going to be a lot of work involved in getting it ready by May but I think it’s still doable, especially if I don’t have to change too much in the sketches.
My next comic event planned is the Leytonstone Comic Fair, at The Birds Pub on Sunday 12th March. I’m really happy to have been invited to it, especially as I missed the last two. If you’re in the area please feel free to stop by! It’ll be open from 12-5pm.

From, DreadLévi studios I wish everyone a Happy New Year. It’s nice to have a refresh and get back into work, and right now I’m working on my various projects, including my big commissions and my Shabbit comic. This feels like a big year for Shabbits, being the year of the rabbit, and it’s renewed my efforts to get this project done in time for the big conventions later on in the year.
Speaking of conventions, later this month I will be running a table at Dublin’s Megacon between the 21st and 22nd. It’s my first time in Dublin and I will be excited to share my classic Yokai prints and comics with the people there. You’ll be able find me at the comic village at Table AD5 I’m also looking forward to a little bit of sightseeing and trying the local Guiness too!

Yokai of the Month: Furaribi (Aimless Fire)

After a successful convention at Malta Comic Con, I’m taking the time to get back into commissions and some big projects. This was my last convention for the year, but I do have one planned in January, where I will be selling at Megacon in Dublin! More details will come as we get closer to the event.
On my Etsy store I have some new things on offer, including the new Seasons of the Summer Island Manga (available with an adorable Meganeko pin badge). There is also a limited Yokai March bundle set which features the last 5 Kappa Omamori charms I have left in my stock. This one is a nice bundle for christmas. To top it all off I’ve started a new promotion where customers who spend over £15 (-P&P) will get a free specific Yokai March print while stocks last. Every month there will be a different Yokai print on offer, and this month we start with Furari-bi, one of my original prints based around the Japanese Will-o-Wisp. I only have three of these in stock so get them before they go!

     A couple of quick notices this time as I prepare for Malta Comic Con 2022 at the end of the month. I will be wares there from the 29th to the 30th October, including the new anthology: Seasons of the Summer Island. This anthology brings together three short stories and some new bonus material previously not seen before. I’ve spent a fair bit of time tightening up the dialogue, even editing a couple of panels, and I will be updating the digital comics to reflect these changes soon. This anthology will be available on Etsy starting next week, and will available either as a stand alone book or as part of a deal with the Meganeko Pin Badge.
Speaking of comics I plan to finally upload the last story of my Manga Jiman anthology: Out of the Dark. This is the one that actually won 1st place in Manga Jiman and I hope people will find it useful to read through as an idea of what the judges are expecting. You can also find it on their own website here
Finally, I also want people to know that new Shabbit pin badges have arrived as part of the Shabbit Fan Pack on Etsy.

I’m happy to announce that the third and final story of Seasons of a Summer Island is now uploaded here on dreadlevi.com. This is slightly different from the other stories, as it uses the yonkoma format instead of the usual comic format that you see in my other stories. I have released these as individual strips rather than whole pages so they should be easy to read, especially on phones.
I will also announce that I will be attending Malta Comic Con this coming October: https://www.maltacomiccon.com/ This will be my first time doing a convention outside of the UK, and because of timing it means I won’t be doing MCM London Comic Con this October. It’s a shame that I will miss many of my regulars, but I hope next year I will be exhibiting again at MCM London in May. More details about Malta Comic Con will come as we get closer to the event.

A little update after a busy July with conventions and personal family matters. Hyper Japan was fairly successful in terms of sales, especially comics, and looking at my current stock I’m thinking of what I will be focusing on for my next convention, which will hopefully be MCM London Comic Con in October (I have applied but I’m awaiting confirmation). A lot of people have asked about new books or things that will take over from older products. Books like Yokai March do take a while to produce so I will need to decide soon if I’m going for anything that big.
One thing I’m looking forward to returning to is my Shabbit project comic, which is currently in the sketching stage now that the thumbnails are done. It’s a big project but it will be great to finally have that done. But first I need to finish a certain poster…
In other news I have just uploaded some more of Seasons of a Summer Island. I plan to upload some more of that soon, but I’m also uploading the comic gradually on my old deviantart site.
I also plan to upload to upload my Manga Jiman Comic that won last year, so that it can accompany the other two on this website. For those who don’t know, the comic anthology is now available on my Etsy store here . I am not kidding when I say this printed copy is the best way to read it, in glorious A5 pages with that nice recycled paper for that old manga feel and good quality black and white printing.

This month I will be at Hyper Japan in London, running a table in the Fringe area from the 22nd to the 24th. I will have my usual collection of prints, plus some brand new Nekomata Pin Badges that will be replacing my old Kitsune ones. I will be in the Fringe Area at table V38 as DreadLevi Studios, so if you’re visiting this weekend please stop by! I have finally gotten around to uploading some new comic pages too, starting with Seasons of the Summer Island; a previously unreleased anthology of small comics set in the same world as The Lost and Found comics. It’s features many characters from the previous comics including Mimiko, Sylva and Megane, but also features some new faces too. It’s a slice of life mini series I wanted to cut my teeth on before exploring the big series I want to do with them. I hope people will check it out, and maybe with enoguh support I will put it together as a physical comic to sell.
